Description

On 29 November, the government announced a new scheme that guarantees funding for successful applicants to the first wave of Horizon Europe grant awards regardless of the outcome of the UK’s efforts to associate to Horizon Europe. The guarantee is a short-term measure intended to address the delays in the formalisation of the UK’s association to Horizon Europe. To provide reassurance, the government has guaranteed funding for the first wave of eligible, successful applicants to Horizon Europe if they are unable to sign their grant agreements with the EU. This guarantee includes the EIC 2021 calls.

Who can apply

Applicants will be eligible to register with UKRI for the Horizon Europe guarantee through this route if:

  • They are a UK-based organisation which has been successful through an EIC 2021 call, and which for the consortium grants remains a partner on the project and is listed on the EIC grant agreement as an Associate Partner.

N.B. We are not currently open for EIC Accelerator submissions. We will open to EIC Accelerator submissions once it is clear that UK association to Horizon Europe will not occur before you have to formalise your EU Grant Agreement. If you do submit your project details before that point you should be aware that your application will not be processed until it is confirmed that the grant will definitely not be funded by the EIC.
